Between the Sheets
Overview
A old Sidecar riff and an early example of the suggestive cocktail name (Sex on the Beach anyone?). But in this case it is done in a charmingly old-timey manner, and it doesn't hurt that the drink is pretty darn good too.
The Between the Sheets is stiff, refreshing and, with the addition of white rum, a little lighter than its more famous brethren. Altogether, as the name suggests, it is very pleasurable.
Recipe
-
1 oz cognac
-
1 oz white rum
-
½ oz Cointreau - or another high quality orange liqueur.
-
½ oz lemon juice
-
¼ oz simple syrup
Combine all ingredients in a shaker, fill with ice. Shake for 8-10 seconds and strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass. Garnish with an expressed orange peel.
